Family is the heart of everything in Italy and our restaurant is very much a family affair from start to finish. Chef Luigi came here as a young man originally from the Molise region only aged 18 years old with no experience of the U.K. or the language. What a journey he has had...some may remember him at a very young age working as a waiter at the Pike & Eel where he impressed many with his flambé table performance skills at tables!
He then went on to open his own restaurant with partners in 1989 and many of you will know him from his days at the Molise where he became well respected in the area and beyond for his cooking skills. Chef Luigi has been cooking for St.Ives and beyond for over 40 years now!
Chef Andrew has always been involved in the restaurant from a very young age (as do our children now) watching his father cook. He then opened his own restaurant in 2016 to which is Chef Luigi then collaborated with him....and now we have Di Rita’s Italian. The collaboration of the love of quality local good and ingredients always brings them together.
Chef Luigi and Chef Andrew, Chef Hannah now lead the team...with their culinary expertise in Italian cooking. A passionate team run by a strong Italian spirit is unbreakable. Di Rita’s then was voted in their first year for the Italian English awards and then in 2019 received the trip advisor certificate of excellence.
