Meet Joe, on-site Baker at Di Rita's Italian Pizzeria & Deli in St Ives

Joes Bio -

“What started my baking passion was making cakes at a young age with my grandma Ethel which to this date is still one of my favourite memories growing up. Then later on at the age of 15, I started my first job in a bakery, where I discovered what I wanted to do with myself in the future which of course was baking. Through the years I moved to other bakeries which allowed me to see the difference between the supermarket style of mass production and the artisan style. Which is where my passion and drive kicked in to become the best I could be wherever I was. What baking is to me is not just a job to pay the bills but something I truly believe in and enjoy doing. I really feel privileged to have found a job I can truly connect with, it really is one of the best feelings to be able to use my knowledge, to learn and grow each day. To be able to create quality baked goods with my own hands, makes me feel connected to my product and know its always the best quality that I can possibly make. The hands on work is just a bonus to me but truly the best thing about baking is the endless knowledge, not even a lifetime is enough to know every recipe and every cultural technique. Its never too late and your never too young to begin your own adventure because once you start creating you’ll never stop, because you will love what you do”
